Since graduating from Wheaton College in 1988, I’ve been involved in entrepreneurial finance. The theme to my career is financing entrepreneurs who on the surface looked very risky.
Right after college I started worked in international microlending and then urban development lending. Working with entrepreneurs from Indonesia to Illinois gave me a rich perspective on how investment capital can change lives and communities.
In 1997 I took the plunge into venture debt. For the next 20 years I had the privilege of working with the same core group of people. We worked at some great firms like Heller Financial, GE Capital, BlueCrest, and Ares. As a team we experienced the peaks and valleys of the venture capital cycle together. I enjoy both the nitty gritty of the deal process and the strategic and operational challenges of raising capital and growing a fund. It was a great ride.
In 2018 I made the decision to launch Mandorla as a way to blend my development finance and venture capital experience. Impact investors wield tremendous power for postive change. I’m excited to help clients unleash that power.
